Countertop Installation - Countertop Installation

Home Depot did a countertop installation for me. Three years later it began to buckle at one of the miters. I went in to the store to ask how to get it fixed. The salesman said "Not to worry--there is a free life-time warranty. Just go to the cabinet dept and set up a time for service." After waiting 1/2 hour I went home and called. I said "My countertop is buckling. I was told there was a lifetime warranty. How do I get it fixed?" The man said yes but I would have to speak with someone else. After being transferred 3 times I finally left a message with Kim. She called back later that afternoon and told me to contact John at Wright's Distributing in Cedaredge and he would tell me how to get it fixed. After 4 attempts I finally reached John who informed me they only warrantied there work for 1 year. He stated that it only happened if "someone" poured hot steaming water over the seam or let water just stand on it all the time. I informed him I had not done either and was not a slob. It could not have been the fault of the installer and if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay a trip charge for them to come out and see if they could fix it or not. I called Home Depot who now says, Oh NO--there are no lifetime warranties." They refuse to stand behind what I was told twice. Please do not do business with this store or contract through them. find your own honest contractors.
