Maytag Dishwasher - Home Decor/Small Applicances

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher from the N. Spokane Home Depot , to include "professional installation". We paid extra for this service. The Home Depot sales associate assured us that their installers were thoroughly screened, licensed, and insured. Our Maytag was delivered by Mayfair Moving Company??? and the "installer" was their delivery person??? The Maytag was installed incorrectly and in violation of a number of City & State Safety Code Sections. Our plumbing outlet was cross-threaded, leaked all over our cabinet floors with resultant damages. The dishwasher was installed incorrectly to a blocked drain line and backed up with water when in operation. The wiring was installed in a very hazardous manner under the "wet" dishwater. The State of Washington issued 3 major code violations to the "professional installer" and Home Depot. The plumbing had to be professionally repaired/replaced at our cost. The "future" damage due to rot and/or mildew is yet to be determined. We were assured by Home Depot at the time of our purchase that Home Depot used only licensed installers. This was an absolute lie as per the issued citations by the State. The Maytag was returned to Home Depot and a Whirlpool from Sears was installed, correctly, to Code, and by a verified licensed installer. Moral of the story: "Home Depot is deceptive, utilizes non-licensed installers (as per my experience), and the resultant damages could be substantial. I will forward a copy of my State complaint with full details to anyone who would like a copy via PDF. Dr. Tom

It is now October 1st, and guess what? Nothing from Stephanie on her "investigation" and follow up. This is typical of what I have experienced from Home Depot.

Hi. I would like to research the details of the problem and the feedback you received from the "Claims Department". We do require our installers to be licensed so I'd definitely like to look into that as well.

Thank you,
Stephanie, Home Depot Customer Care

Good morning Stephanie, I have received a call from your "Claims Department" and it is nothing more than "glitz". It has been going on 90 days and absolutely NOTHING has been done by your "representative" except a PR campaign with no concrete results, offers, or solutions. In addition to this "problem" of the dishwasher, I have another claim that has been accepted by the Washington Civil Rights Commission for discrimination against Americans with Disabilities. I have been subjected to ongoing discriminatory abuse by 2 persons in your paint department since April and I have finally had enough. I am age 64, a disabled - deaf Vet, and the "service" by 2 persons in your paint department has been deplorable. I have NEVER had to file a complaint like these complaints in my entire life. This is so serious that the State is launching a formal investigation. Home Depot has rendered long term damage to my floors (ceiling down stairs) by willfully violating the Washington State Code with the employment of non-licensed persons. The Home Depot associate who sold us the dishwasher clearly disclosed that ONLY licensed installers were utilized by Home Depot. Lies, deception, and now blatant discrimination against an "old deaf guy" is beyond any justification. Your "claims department" is smoke glass and mirrors. Thank you for your concern, however you are in the proverbial dark as to the operational deficiencies that seem to surround Home Depot. Laws and Codes are ignored in the quest for profits. Doc Tom
