Yesterday morning at 6:30 I returned two wall paper strippers I rented the day before at your store in Geneva Illinois. I assumed I could do this quickly since the store opens at 6:00. I pulled up to the tool rental door, got out and stood in the rain ringing the bell for someone to let me in. No one came. Finally another customer inthe tool rental tried to open the door fromt e inside only to have an alarm go off. The door would not open. Wet and disgusted I parked my truck and walked into the main door only to find every associate inthe store in some kind of meeting in the pain department. I asked about being helpd only to be told that someone had jsut gone to the tool rental to shut off the alarm. A man helped me check in the strippers. I noted as I took a package of paint rollers to the check out that several customers were wondering the aisles with no one to help them. I find this is typical of Home Depot over the past two or three years--little help for the customers. Earlier this week I went to the paint department at 11:00 a.m to buy a gallon of one color and a quart of another, It took 40 minutes to have the ONE person in the paint department go back and forth between me aand four other customers trying to move each person's purchase along. I only go to Home Depot these days for things i can't get at the Menard's Store down the street--where the service is friendly, plentiful, and prompt. Home Depot used to be great but not any more--too few associates to help customers, few smiles or greetings, long waits while the harried staff struggles to keep up. You guys have lost my confidence and for the most part, my business--I spent Over $4,000 last year in remodeling projects at Menards--and that is a pretty typical figure for the past 4 or 5 years--yor share of my annual $$ spent is very small because you just do not deliver.
