Product: not honoring military card

My wife has used my military card many times at this store and all of a sudden this has become an embarassing issue. She was told she couldn't use it even if I were to say so in a letter or phone conversation. Whatever the reason. She was humuliated in front of her brother and sister in law as if she were trying to collect funds from them fradulently. They made her feel ashamed that she is my wife and has to do the shopping for me as I am not able to get around as I am 100% diabled and need her help in everyday tasks. She is my caregiver and I depend on her for everything. They insulted me and her and I feel they need to apologize to her and to me as well as all military personel. This is only a 10% discount and they make it seem like the money was coming out of their pocket. I live on a fixed income and this is a very small part of me being able to feel a bit independent in doing something to be productive. They made me feel ashamed to be a veteran and that is wrong in more ways than I can explain. And to make my wife go through the humuliation of standing there and being degraded because she is tryin g to save us a few pennies is ridiculous. I'm insulted to say the least. This policy needs to be changed and they need to correct a terrible wrong...Thanks for listening..Howard Gibbs Jr.

Home Depot offers a military discount to active duty, retired, veterans and dependants with valid ID. If you were retired or active duty your wife would have her own dependant card (which is also valid for the discount). If you are a veteran with a veterans affairs card, yes you would need to be present and request the discount. This is to prevent fraud. May I remind you, Home Depot does not even give their own employees a discount. I'm sorry your wife felt humiliated at checkout. In my opinion, Lowes and Home Depot should stop the program which put an end to complaints such as yours.
