Home Depot IT issues caused acct overdraft. Charged me twice.


I had a fairly large purchase at Home Depot on Oct 30th. Was informed that Home Depot was having IT issues & indeed they were. I paid for my materials with my debit card. I ck'd my account a few minutes after I left Home Depot & their system had charged my acct twice, 3 minutes apart. I immediately called my credit union & they told me to call Home Depot. I did & was told that the 2nd transaction was voided on their end. Long story short, my acct was overdrawn for 4 days, credit union pulled money from my savings to cover other transactions I had made. I was not a happy camper & was told by Home Depot mgr that it was a bad situation in every store that day. An apology was ok, but was never offered any compensation to keep any future business with Home Depot. A discount or a gift card would have been nice, but got nothing.
